The Jonesborough Genealogical Society, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, was created in 1990 to foster interest in preserving family history. The society provides monthly help nights and quarterly Genealogy 101 courses. For meeting dates and times, view our Calendar.
Members enjoy genealogy days once a month with featured speakers or visits to local attractions. Paid membership in the society is from May 1 thru April 30 of the following year. To learn more about joining JGS, view our Membership webpage.

Thursday, July 10th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm - Genealogy Help Night at the Washington County Public Library - Jonesborough,200 Sabin Drive, Jonesborough, TN hosted by the Jonesborough Genealogical Society. Whether a beginner or an advanced researcher, bring your research and questions. JGS volunteers will be available to answer questions and help you find research resources. This event is free and open to the public.
Saturday, July 26th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm - Genealogy Day at the Greeneville Greene County History Museum. Members of the Jonesborough Genealogical Society are invited to attend a private tour of the Greeneville Greene County History Museum on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 10:00 am. Admission is free, donations to the museum are appreciated. Car pooling options are available. For more information about the museum, visit: www.greenevillegreenecountyhistorymuseum.com.
